JUB.BER.WOK.
KNOWN BUGS:
- "Play Again" does not work, the AI will break on scene reload. Will try to fix asap. If you want to replay, reload the page. Sorry.
- Sometimes the AI will just... not cooperate, and the critter the camera targets will just refuse to do anything interesting. Still trying to sort that out.
- the super pretty grass you can see in the images does not actually work on a WebGL build T_T
Jam-entry for GameDev.tv Jam 2025.
Theme: "Tiny World"
Game made by the following 3 idiots:
- Penguinous (design counselling, brilliant ideas, bug voice for JUB)
- A_Squirrel (music, bug-voice mixing, bug voice for BER)
- iani_ancilla (programming, 3D bad-modelling, bug voice for WOK)
We decided to make a game about bugs, and boy is it buggy. I overscoped while the others were distracted and had to cut a lot of content in order to (barely, and badly) make the deadline.
Levels are populated with GOAP-controlled AI bugs of 3 different species. Each species has slightly different behaviour and different stats.
Looking at the map, resource distribution, and bug behaviour, the player should be able to make an educated guess about which species will be most successful at the end of a 30-seconds cycle (not so clear in this version, alas).
Ideas that had to be scrapped due to time:
- score system
- possibility to use score to buy and place obstacles/resources to aid your chosen species
- multiple levels and maps
- more bug behaviours and differences (ie: water traversal, flying, harvesting to grow a nest...)
- procedural generation of maps (ok this was never really on the table but would have been nice)
- predatory species, the Jubberwok!
All in all, the game is, in its current state, a failure, but I learned about GOAP, and how to use code assets, so I am still satisfied.
Free third-party assets used:
- GOAP v3 by CrashKonijn (https://crashkonijn.com/). This I used to implement GOAP behaviours for all bugs species. It was out of my comfort zone, but has excellent documentation and the support from the dev was frankly amazing.
- Point Grass Renderer by Micah Wilder (https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/vegetation/point-grass-renderer-207854).
- Stylized Nature Kit Lite v1.2 by Innerverse Games (https://assetstore.unity.com/publishers/44981) for the mushrooms, logs and flower models.

Super cute concept would love to see it expanded to the full idea you guys had!
It made me smile (the models are very cute) and it was relaxing to watch and to listen to (very fitting music), so if the purpose of a videogame is still to entertain, I would call it a success. But I want to see also the grass! (if it doesn't work only in WebGL, you could also put a zip file)
I know that is way more complex than what it seems, so congratulations for making it in just 10 days. I would definitely like to see a full version, at some point.
